How do I start a DBS?
Already have a community?
STEP 1
Pray
Ask the Lord if this is something you should do, confess your need for him and invite him to give you strength and fruitfulness.
STEP 2
Find a partner
We recommend starting a DBS with 2-4 christians to work together in facilitating, cooking, and praying for the group.
STEP 3
Set a date
Find a date at least one month out that you can begin to pray into, plan for, and invite people to.
STEP 4
Choose a Journey
We have created set journeys to take your group on. We recommend “Who is Jesus” as a great first journey to go on with your groups.
STEP 5
Review the DBS Method

Tips on the questions of DBS
If your group is primarily christian, feel free to phrase this:
“What are you most thankful for to God?”
Its good to remind the group of the value behind each question. You could say something like:
“The reason we ask this questions is because (the bible says) thankfulness can help us connect and recognize God in our lives.”
Feel free to expound that this could be a physical or spiritual need.
Its good to remind the group of the value behind each question. You could say something like:
“The reason we ask this questions is because the Bible says to love one another and part of that is sharing our burdens.”
Sometimes according to the needs given, this questions may not be needed. Feel free to feel it out on whether to ask it.
Its good to remind the group of the value behind each question. You could say something like:
“The reason we ask this questions is because one of God’s greatest commandments is to love one another.”
If there are individuals in your group who don’t believe in God yet, it is important to ask for permission to pray.
Important: there is no formula to this prayer time. You can pray quietly, have one person pray, or go around in a circle. If there are non- or new believers keep your prayers simple.
Its good to remind the group of the value behind each question. You could say something like:
“The reason we ask this questions is because The Bible teaches us to ask God for help. (I realize some of you are uncertain on whether you believe in God yet, but worst case scenario if we pray nothing changes, or best case scenario, God shows up.)”
